Terumoto Koike, MD, PhD

Dr. Terumoto Koike is now the Associate Professor at the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the Niigata University. He received his MD degree from the Jikei University School of Medicine, and received his PhD from the Biological Functions and Medical Control from the Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences. Dr. Koike joined the division of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery after completing clinical fellowships in general thoracic surgery at the Niigata University, the National Hospital Organization Nishi-Niigata Chuo Hospital, and the Niigata Cancer Center Hospital. He was also a postdoctoral research fellow at the Latner Thoracic Surgery Research Laboratories at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Koike’s current practice includes surgical treatment of thoracic malignancies (lung cancer, thymic tumors, malignant pleural mesothelioma, chest wall tumors, and mediastinal tumors), pneumothorax, and infectious thoracic disease.

Dr. Koike’s clinical research focuses on limited resection for earl stage lung cancer and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. Dr. Koike is widely published in prestigious journals, such as the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and Journal of Thoracic Oncology.
