Dr. Rafael Andrade is now the Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He received his MD degree from National Autonomous University of Mexico and completed his residency at the University of Minnesota. He also finished his fellowship in the Indiana University Medical Center (Cardiothoracic Surgery), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (Thoracic Surgical Oncology) and the University of Minnesota (Minimally Invasive Thoracic and Foregut).
Dr. Andrade specializes in Thoracic Surgery, Esophageal Surgery and Tracheomalacia. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr, Andrade also focuses his research interests in Diaphragm Surgery, Endobronchial and Esophageal ultrasound, Hyperhidrosis as well as Esophageal 3-D bioprinting. He is Member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Associate Editor of Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
