Dr. Lyons develops his professional activity as a Thoracic Surgeon in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Buenos Aires British Hospital, Argentina, since 1993.
He received his medical degree from the School of Medicine of the Universidad de La Plata, Argentina, in 1985. He was a general surgery resident at the Buenos Aires British Hospital from May 1986 to May 1990. He spent 2 years in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Buenos Aires British Hospital. He spent 1 year as a Fellow in Thoracic Surgery at the Hôpital Civil. Strasbourg. France. He joined Buenos Aires British Hospital’s Thoracic Surgery unit in 1993.
He is a past President of the Argentinian Society of Thoracic Surgeons, member of the board of the Argentinian Society of Surgery, member of the Section of Thoracic Surgery and the Section of Oncology of the Argentine Society of Respiratory Medicine, Member of the European School of Oncology, Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
He is member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), member of the Latin American Association of the Thorax (ALAT), member of the Ibero-American Society of Thoracic Surgery, and member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
He has held numerous other positions in national medical organizations. He is a member of the International Lung Cancer Staging Committee of the IASLC, Vice-director of the career of specialist of Thoracic Surgery at the School of Medicine of the Buenos Aires University (UBA), Assistant Professor of surgery of the School of Medicine of the Argentine Catholic University (UCA).
He has published many articles and book chapters. He is a Permanent Member of the Editorial Board in the Argentinian Journal of Surgery.
