Seth B. Krantz, MD is a general thoracic surgeon at NorthShore University HealthSystem and a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of medicine. He has expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery including robotic pulmonary resection and minimally invasive esophagectomy.
Dr. Krantz did his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan (BS, 2002) and received his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (2006). He completed his General Surgery Residency at Northwestern University and his Thoracic Surgery Residency at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis. From 2011 to 2013 he was a research fellow at Northwestern researching tumor microenvironments and their relationship to tumor invasiveness.
Dr. Krantz serves as the cancer liaison physician and serves on the executive committee of the NorthShore University HealthSystem Cancer Committee. He has published on surgical quality in lung cancer and presented at numerous national meetings. Dr. Krantz is a reviewer for numerous journals and is an invited question write for the 13thEdition of SESATS, published by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. His research interests include surgical quality in lung cancer and the role of genetic risk in the development of lung cancer.
