These surgical procedures actually provide the complete oncologic resection of pneumonectomy (PN) with the functional advantages of standard lobectomy, including when performed after induction chemotherapy. When planning such operations, the thorough preoperative assessment of tumor extent, careful surgical technique, and vigilant perioperative management are mandatory in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient with the least cost.
